Respectful learning
This policy sets expectations for Fermi Education tutoring, programmes and admissions support. Tutors and students must treat each other respectfully. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, sexual behaviour and unnecessary physical contact are not acceptable.
Clear boundaries
Communications should relate to learning and use the contact channels agreed with the family. Parents or guardians should know about lessons and communication arrangements for minors. Tutors must not ask students to keep contact, meetings or concerns secret, or seek an inappropriate personal relationship with a student.
Private social-media contact, transport, visits to private homes and meetings outside the agreed teaching arrangement are not part of the service. Any proposed in-person arrangement must be discussed with Fermi and the parent or guardian beforehand, with a suitable location and supervision arrangements.
Online lessons
Use an appropriate learning space and professional language, clothing and screen content. A parent or guardian should be contactable and provide supervision appropriate to the student’s age and needs. Participants must not record, photograph or share a session without prior informed permission.
Tutor suitability
Fermi is responsible for assessing tutor suitability and addressing concerns. Families are welcome to ask what identity, qualification, reference or background checks have been completed for their assigned tutor. A published profile or academic result should not be treated as confirmation of Police vetting or any particular clearance.
Raising a concern
A student, parent, tutor or other person can report unsafe conduct to Woojin Song, who operates Fermi Education. Include what happened, when, who was involved and any immediate safety needs. Avoid sharing the report more widely than necessary. We will take concerns seriously, consider immediate protective steps and decide whether a tutor or lesson arrangement should be paused while the concern is assessed.
We handle reports sensitively, but cannot promise secrecy where information needs to be shared to protect someone or meet a legal obligation. Records should be factual and access limited to those handling the concern. You can contact an external authority directly, including where the concern involves Woojin or you do not feel comfortable reporting to Fermi.

For immediate danger in New Zealand call 111. For a concern about a child’s safety, contact Oranga Tamariki or Police. If you are outside New Zealand, use the relevant local emergency or child-protection service. Do not wait for an email reply in an emergency.
