Who is responsible
Fermi Education is operated by Woojin Song trading as Fermi Education. Woojin Song is the privacy contact for information collected through this website and our tutoring, programmes and admissions services.

Information we collect
Enquiries may include student and parent or guardian names, contact details, school, year level, curriculum, preferred lesson format and learning goals. When you use our services, we may also hold booking and payment records, relevant academic results, lesson notes, progress, application plans and communications. Please provide only information relevant to the support requested; do not send identity documents, passwords or payment-card details through the enquiry form.
We normally collect information from you. A parent, guardian or authorised support person may provide information about a student, and an assigned tutor may provide progress notes. Where required, we will tell the student about information collected indirectly, its source and purpose. Please ensure you are authorised to share another person’s information.
How we use it
We use information to answer enquiries, assess suitable support, match and communicate with tutors, arrange lessons, support learning and admissions planning, manage invoices, resolve concerns and meet legal obligations. Providing information is voluntary, but without relevant contact and learning details we may be unable to respond or arrange support. Required form fields identify information requested for the enquiry; you can contact us by email if a field is not applicable.
Who can receive it
Only people who need information for these purposes should receive it: Woojin and relevant administration support, assigned or prospective tutors for matching and delivery, and service providers supporting our website, communications, online lessons and records. We share only what is relevant. For minors, we may discuss learning arrangements and progress with their parent or guardian, taking account of the student’s privacy rights and circumstances.
We will seek permission before providing identifying details to a separate Christchurch provider, school or university, unless disclosure is otherwise permitted or required by law. Legal advisers, authorities or emergency services may receive information when necessary and lawful, including to respond to a serious safety concern.
Online services and overseas processing
Our website uses WordPress, Elementor and WPForms, with hosting and website infrastructure supplied by service providers. Website logs may include IP address, browser and device details, pages requested and access times. Cloudflare website analytics is used to understand website performance and visits. Cookies or similar technology may support security, login and form functionality. Browser settings can restrict cookies, but this may affect some functions.
Tutors and service providers may be located in New Zealand, Australia or other countries. Relevant information may therefore be accessed or processed overseas. We require appropriate protection where applicable, and will seek specific informed authorisation where needed for an overseas disclosure. External sites, including Instagram, have their own privacy policies when you visit them.
Photos, recordings and marketing
Enquiring does not subscribe you to promotional messages. Marketing requires a separate choice, and you can withdraw that choice at any time. We seek separate permission before publishing identifiable student photos, testimonials or results. Lesson recording requires prior informed agreement from the participants and, where appropriate, a parent or guardian, covering its purpose, access and retention.
Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect information, limit access and keep it accurate. We keep it only as long as needed for the stated purposes, legitimate record keeping or legal obligations, then securely delete or anonymise it. If a privacy breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Privacy Commissioner as required.
Your rights and concerns
You can ask to access or correct your personal information by emailing Woojin. We may verify your identity and any authority to act for a student. If a requested correction is not made, you can ask for a statement of correction to be attached. We will respond within the time required by the Privacy Act 2020. You may also ask about deletion; some records may need to be retained for legal reasons.
If we cannot resolve your privacy concern, you can contact the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner. We update this policy when practices change; the date above identifies the current version.
